Volkswagen Unveils 300 HP I.D. ROOMZZ in Shanghai
The latest member of the I.D. family has finally been shown off in China. The I.D. ROOMZZ is the latest concept in VW’s ever-growing range of all-electric vehicles.
The ROOMZZ is a big SUV that VW says is ready for families and businesses. Thanks to its sliding rear doors, it blends vans and SUVs, but don’t call it utilitarian.
VW is clearly trying to sell the ROOMZZ as a more premium vehicle. With vegan seats made out of Apple Skin (a faux leather made from fruit-industry waste), special wood veneers, and seats that twist towards each other (by 25 degrees) during autonomous driving, the ROOMZZ concept is aimed at the well-heeled.
“This SUV is a monolith, appearing to be seamlessly machined from one solid block. The battery-powered ID. ROOMZZ moves effortlessly – silently and without emissions”, says Klaus Bischoff, VW’s chief designer.
Meanwhile, the dash is all simple elegance. Made entirely of glass-front material, it is among the I.D. lineup’s most minimalistic designs.
